Happy New Year everyone! One last post for 2017. In reviewing my bonsai activities of 2017, I started my this year with a small display at the NW Flower Garden Show with a few bonsais. Then followed by helping our local club set up the Spring Show. Followed by a couple of attempts to doContinue reading “Why Bonsai will Matter More in 2018”

Wisdom Tree for the Digital Eden
One step closer to a gargantuan task. I have a book cover before the book is ready. I’m a visual artist at heart therefore having a book cover for my upcoming book makes it closer to reality for me. I now have a much deeper appreciation for anyone who have written or in the process of writingContinue reading “Wisdom Tree for the Digital Eden”

Time Illusion
I’m compelled to write about the subject of TIME because of a couple of incidents that happened this week. It’s 4:46 AM in the morning and I’ve been awake since 2:50 this morning. My original plan is to continue writing my book and hopefully finish my manuscript ready for editing. I sit here typing awayContinue reading “Time Illusion”
Bonsai Assisted Mindfulness
For a few months now I’ve been tossing around the idea of combining bonsai with meditation. My idea was to heighten the meditative experience by having a bonsai present in the room. Confessions of a Bonsai Addict
When your thoughts become occupied with mostly that one thing. When you talk about that one thing a lot of times. When you do that one thing a lot. There could be something abnormal about it. Bonsai Misunderstood
It’s the day after thanksgiving in America. Also famously known as “Black Friday” here. While many Americans go to shopping centers and big box stores to get the best deal on that electronic item or a fuzzy toy marked down so low that they are willing to camp in front of the store to be firstContinue reading “Bonsai Misunderstood”
Urban Yamadori First Styling
First styling on this urban Yamadori Tam Juniper. Lots of long branches that are kept for now until new branches grow closer to the trunk. If all goes well, I would like to move this tree in a smaller pot spring 2018.
Fame to Blame?..or
A famous tree may have become too famous that resulted in its own demise. I think there will always be a small percentage of people that are menace to society. More of us should do more good to marginalize them. https://kottke.org/17/09/rip-the-broccoli-tree
Recent work on Junipers
Just want to share before and now photos of two juniper bonsais I worked on recently. These are Tam Juniper bonsais from a landscape project in 2015. I look at these bonsais and again reflect on some of the life lessons they teach me. If I did not save these (seemingly pieces of junk materials)Continue reading “Recent work on Junipers”
