My family and I visited Bainbridge Island this summer. A small island town where you can take a half hour ferry ride to get there or go around through mainland and an hour to get there. It’s nice little town with shops and restaurants to eat. This is where the world famous Boedel Garden is located. Continue reading “Bonsai in our Digital World”

Bonsai Rock Lake Tahoe
As promised from my last post I’m posting photos of “bonsai rock”. I was going to add them to the last post but there were too many to add. Thanks to our friend Liza for letting me know about this place. I would have never found it if not for her mentioning it. There areContinue reading “Bonsai Rock Lake Tahoe”
Bonsai Inspirations at Lake Tahoe
Like a kid in a candy store I was drooling in awe of the scenery and especially the trees during this recent trip to Lake Tahoe California/Nevada. I jokingly commented to my family that if I only had a shovel, I might be going home with one of these gnarly trees. I didn’t get any laughContinue reading “Bonsai Inspirations at Lake Tahoe”
Landscape Arborvitae to Bonsai – First Styling
This tree have been on my bonsai “to do” radar in the last week. Somehow I had an itch to style it because it looked ugly that I want to clean it up. I collected this tree from one of our landscape jobs in Jan 2015. During its first year, I planted it in the ground. That year’sContinue reading “Landscape Arborvitae to Bonsai – First Styling”
Artist Jennifer Bentson Is on the Move!
“If you see the tree as a part of yourself, then you can see that we are all entwined in nature and the world. When I paint oak trees, I feel a certain character in that oak. This is the ecology of ourselves projected onto nature”. Jennifer Bentson
Trees in San Diego California
Sharing some trees I saw during our trip in San Diego. Also got to visit my friend Don Guilliams who owns bonsai trees at his beautiful downtown San Diego town house.
Jet Lagged!
I’m honored to meet Ian in person and Allison and be included in their travels. I admire and share his passion for bonsai.

Appreciating Life Through Death
Today is Monday May 29th 2017. It is Memorial Day in America, a federal holiday to remember the men and women that died who served in the armed forces. It’s interesting that just minutes before I started writing this, that I just made that connection. Since today I’m not working, I usually have time to do otherContinue reading “Appreciating Life Through Death”
Making It Happen
In several of my previous posts I have been using bonsai as a metaphor for life and as a life teacher. I’m going out of a limb and making it an announcement, I’m currently in the process of publishing a book that discuss the potential power of bonsai to help us with life. By coming out with a claim I you want to expect Continue reading “Making It Happen”
